About our chairs
A wooden desk chair is a chair with a solid wood frame that you use at a desk instead of a padded swivel office chair. Ours are solid walnut or beech armchairs and side chairs with a cushioned, cane or rattan seat, on four fixed legs without wheels, and most work equally well at a desk or a dining table. Customers have left 22 reviews on the chairs in this collection, with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5.
Which wooden chairs work at a desk?
- Pierre Jeanneret Chandigarh Office Armchair, solid walnut with a natural cane seat and back, wide arms and a relaxed recline.
- Chandigarh armchairs in walnut (rattan seat or rattan back) with a rattan seat or back, the same design used at a dining table or in a reading corner.
- Walnut chairs with a cushion, in black leather or mustard fabric, which many customers use at a desk as well as at the table.
- Copenhagen turned chair, solid walnut with turned spindles and a vegan leather seat in five colours.
- Beechwood chair with a woven cane back and a black leather or beige fabric seat, for a lighter tone.
Wooden chair or office chair, which is better for a desk?
A wooden chair suits a home study where you work a few hours at a time and want the chair to match the room. It does not roll, swivel or adjust in height, so check that the seat height works with your desk. For long days at a computer with frequent movement, a height-adjustable office chair on wheels gives more support. Our chairs do not have wheels.
What seat height do you need?
For a standard 29 to 30 inch desk, a seat height of about 17 to 19 inches leaves room for your legs under the desk and keeps your forearms level with the desktop. Compare the chair's measurements on the product page with your desk height before you order.
Shipping and warranty
Shipping is free to the United States and the United Kingdom, and each product page shows its own delivery time. Chair frames are covered by a 5-year warranty for one person up to 250 lb. For a desk to go with your chair, see our walnut desks and the rest of our solid wood office furniture.
