Dining Experience and Style

Seats six to ten depending on the size selected, with room along the center for serving dishes. The French country profile works with cane-back chairs, upholstered seating, or a bench along one side. Oak has a dense grain structure and resists scratching under daily use. Grain pattern varies from piece to piece, so no two tabletops are identical.

Many people wonder how many people can comfortably sit at their dining table. The seating capacity depends on several factors such as table size, chair width, and the placement of the table legs. Keeping these factors in mind, here's a general guide to table sizes and their seating capacities. We recommend allowing 24 inches of space per person for comfort. While you can reduce this, it may feel cramped. For optimal seating, allow at least 2 inches (tight) to 4+ inches (roomy) between chairs.

The 60" x 30" size seats 6 people, with two on each long side and one at each end. The 72" x 34" size seats 6 comfortably and up to 8 when the ends are used. The 80" x 36" size seats 8 people with three on each side and one at each end. The 95" x 40" size seats 8 comfortably and up to 10 at maximum capacity.

Keep in mind that the baluster legs sit in from the corners, so chairs positioned between the legs on the long sides have slightly less knee clearance than on a table with thin legs. If you plan to seat four people along one long side of the 95" table, choose chairs no wider than 18 inches.
